Rizzo reviews Anime!

Sorry about the lateness readers...if there are any. *Looks out* OH! There they are, quit trying to walk away dammit! Anyway, the lateness came about from some medical problems. But enough about that lets get to the review.

Todays Review: Guyver Bio-Boosted Armour.

Guyver is not well known here in america except to hardcore anime fans. Me, Big Jon, and our cousin Don got into this anime through mine and Big Jon's step-grandfather. He is the number one reason me and Jon have our cultured out look on films and anime and all that. He introduced us to this very violent very awesome 12 episode anime called Guyver. It stars this unsuspecting high schooler named Sho Fukamachi. He goes to school and all that jazz, he lives with his father and not both parents because.....well because. He goes to school with his love interest and her brother, named in order, Mizuki Segawa, and Testsuro Segawa. They would walk to school everyday, UNTIL! Yes Sho and Tetsuro decide to walk in the woods where everything bad happens. They happen upon a little lake underneath a cliff, when an explosion goes and and down comes this weird little gear looking thing. Sho falls and hits his head on the thing and it EXPLODES to engulf him in a purple....tentacely.....thing....yea. Well he freaks out, along with Tetsturo and he jumps into the lake next them. Tetsuro calls his name...even though he is in the lake. Well apparently this bad organization were after what they found and a guy transforms into a monster of sorts and tries to destroy Tetsuro because he was a witness to their bad stuff. Well all of a sudden? Nope stopping there you need to watch it to find out. This series was originally released as a one episode OAV in 1986 and the 12 episode OAV in 1989 to 1995ish...... Then was re-re-released in 2005 by ADV Films and Funimation. Check it out, OH there as also been two live action american movies made so if you can find them check them out. The Guyver

Robin Hood

Hey guys and gals, The Kidd here, back with a new review for Robin Hood.

Being a guy, Robin Hood has been a part of my life since I was a child. From watching the animated Disney version, to reading every book, and even seeing Kevin Costner in Prince of Thieves over a thousand times, the legend of Robin Hood is a staple in any young boy's childhood.

Teaming back up with Gladiator's director Ridley Scott, Russell Crowe delivers a performance that stands out from any previous portrayal of the legendary outlaw. Crowe delivers to the audience a more gritty, take-no-prisoners, and all around more bad-ass Robin. He was also backed up by a decent cast. Cate Blanchett delivers a more powerful, strong willed Marion, and Kevin Durand gives the usual goofy, tough guy performance as Little John. Mark Strong portrays a bad guy not yet seen in any of the Robin Hood stories so far.

Seeing as the story of Nottingham's most infamous outlaw has been told and re-told many times, it was quite refreshing to be given a different story. They didn't really change anything from the past stories, they just gave us more of a prequel with this movie. This story told life-long Robin Hood fans how he actually became Robin Hood. For those expecting a re-telling of the old "Robin Hood defeats the evil King John" story, prepare to be disappointed. In a good way. This movie is a must-see for Robin Hood fans. Or Russell Crowe fans.

Robin Hood left me leaving the theater quite satisfied, giving it an 8 out of 10.

"Ya Know What Really Pisses Me Off" Issue #1

Well, How are you fine gents and ladies. This here is Big Jon, and well I'm just here to tell you good people what really pisses me off. To start this off I would like to direct your attention to Photographic Evidence of what can only be described as....stupid...well actually asinine, dopey, foolish, block-headed, boneheaded, fatheaded, logger-headed, thick, thickheaded, cloddish, doltishdense, dim, dull, dumb, obtuse, slowgaumless, gormlesslumpish, lumpen, unthinking, nit witted, senseless, soft-witted, witless, weak-minded,and yokel-like. I could go on, but that would bore you to tears
two hats... THAT IS SO STUPID!! WHY!? why do you hate a hat on a bandanna? I don't understand why did you feel it was necessary to tie a bandanna to your head then put another hat over top of it!? Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate little punks like this. I hate anyone who insist on wearing more than one hat and be serious about it. I've seen a guy wearing a cowboy hat tie a bandanna around the cow boy hat, and to be honest it looks just as dumb! Well, this has been the first of Many, Many, MANY!  little rants about things that irritate the living hell out of me. See you folks next time, Here at "Far From OK"

Rizzo's Comic Corner: Hack/Slash

Hey guys, I'm Rizzo as stated below. I will be reviewing comics, games, you know Nerdy stuff. Well today's review is about a little comic I found while browsing my local flea markets. It's called Hack/Slash, and it's about a girl named Cassie, and she hunts what are known as slashers. Oh, don't know what a slasher is? Well let me tell you, a slasher is a malevolent spirit of a killer. Some well known other slashers in other media are Freddy, Jason, Chucky.

Cassie has decided to track down and get rid of these things by any means necessary. She is followed and helped by a man named Vlad, he is a huge, muscular, and deformed individual that Cassie met while hunting down a slasher. He acts as the muscle, obviously, and also as a battle strategist. His main weapons when helping Cassie are two humongous meat cleavers, any other info you want to know about him needs to be read about in the comic. No spoilers from me. Anyway, a little about Cassie, besides hunting slashers, she was an ordinary kid, well except for her mother. Her mother was known as The Lunch Lady, she would kill the students that made fun of Cassie and anyone else that didn't except her daughter. Cassie eventually found out and had to....wait, nope not going any further, like I said no spoilers here. All in all the series is an excellent one to read, especially if you are into horror, or referential style humor. For this series I'd have to give it a.....7/10, I was enthralled but I only liked some of the issues and stories. Go on and read it, you might just like it.

Welcome/ Iron Man 2

Howdy howdy, folks. My name's The Kidd, and my associates are J Rizzo and Big Jon. We welcome you to our very first blog. Here at 'Far From OK', we will be giving you reviews on things new and old. I'll usually be reviewing movies, Rizzo will be giving you insight into all things nerdy (Video games, comics, etc), and Big Jon will basically just rant about the things he hates, which of course covers most everything on Earth except myself and Rizzo.

Jon: No, I hate Rizzo too.
Rizzo: What the hell, man?
Jon: Sorry, just wanted to be honest to our devoted readers.
Rizzo: What devoted readers? We don't have any yet!
Jon: See? its that attitude that makes people not like you.

ANYWAY...I'll go ahead and kick off our first post with a review for Iron Man 2.
After hearing mixed reviews, I was a little skeptical that Iron Man 2 would be as explosive and action-packed as its prequel. It did not disappoint.

First off, we have the return of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark. I love the fact that every time I see him on screen, whether its womanizing, drinking, or just being the narcissistic symbol of cool that Tony Stark is, I still think Im just watching Robert Downey Jr doing whatever the hell he wants. You almost forget you're watching him play a character because he just fits the bill so well.

As far as the rest of the cast, there were some ups and downs. Sam Rockwell did a great job playing Tony's nemesis, Hammer. His uncomfortably bad jokes, fidgety hands, and utter lack of confidence made the perfect yang to Stark's yin. Samuel L Jackson didn't fail to entertain as he returns as Nick Fury, head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The writers didn't give him much depth with his character, his best moment being when he looks at Stark with his one good eye and says, "I'll be keeping my eye on you." And while I find Scarlett Johansson incredibly hot, I felt her presence in this movie to be unbelievable. Her high-flying martial arts battles were fun to watch only for the fact that she wears skin tight clothing. But, lets face it, shes still hot so I don't care that much. And we have Mickey Rourke. I can say this was one of his best roles, mostly for the fact that its the first time I've ever seen him doing an accent instead of using his own voice like always. He plays the perfect bad guy; dirty, rugged, slightly psycho, tattooed, and just all around maniacal. I did not like the fact that Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle. While I like Cheadle, Howard fit the character a little better, and I personally think he might've brought something extra to the role. Plus, it would've been cool as hell to see Terrence Howard dressed in the War Machine suit.

So, while the movie has a few Buick-sized plot holes (but what do you expect from a superhero movie) the cast alone makes it worth seeing. And lets face it, the action scenes aren't bad either.

So, all in all, I give Iron Man 2 a solid 7 out of 10.

<---Oh and if you haven't already why don't you pick up a copy of the first Iron Man movie
